The Girl Who Couldn't Stop Thinking About Chocolate Cake

After an unsavory experience at Kki, I have come to the realisation that chi chi cakes just don't do it for me.

Call me boring, stereotype..whatever. Just give me good ol chocolate fudge cake without the bells and whistles and I'll be happy.

To prove this point, I bought a small chocolate fudge cake from Awfully Chocolate on Friday to celebrate the passing of the 1st 3 months of my pregnancy.

Darn, it was good.

I wasn't too sure if I would be able to stomach chocolate cake but took my chances.

And it worked!

Steps to eating chocolate cake:

First and foremost, take out the box from the fridge

Open it!

Behold its glory for a brief moment.

Quickly cut yourself a generous slice and tuck in!

Happy Birthday Rachel

Sydneysider Kristian Anderson, 35, has been having chemotherapy since he was diagnosed with cancer in October 2009. He made the video for his wife of seven years, Rachel, as a birthday present and a thank-you for her support.

The video features cameos by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key -- since Rachel is a Kiwi -- and Hugh Jackman, who appeared in the video after Kristian asked Triple M's The Grill presenter Gus Worland for help.

Happy Hari Raya

While most of Singapore is caught up in the fun and festivities of the Hari Raya holiday, I find myself holed up at home, puking by my toilet bowl.

Yes. I am officially pregnant and looking forward to the end of the first trimester.

That also explains why I haven't been updating my food blog much. My food loving days are temporarily placed on hold. Things I used to adore (roast pork, thick curries, steamboats, chicken rice, laksa) have now become objects of repulsion. Even reading food blogs and food magazines makes me retch. When I'm hungry, all I feel like eating are plain noodles, potatoes, porridge and the occasional fruit. My weight has plummeted by 4 kilos and though I'm secretly pleased, the perpetual exhaustion and feeling of unwellness is driving me nuts.

Enough of my whining. Its the long weekend after all.

HAPPY HARI RAYA folks!
